Just in case you don't want to install a new update with absolutely no information about it, here is a rather cryptic webtranslation of the update info:

Version 1.03 (2004/1/27) -------------------------

Correction place: When (1) after doing EXTRACT and DISCARD,
sample Select is done, it hangs. When (2) are to save several files
are deleted to the route of CF, it hangs.

Improvement place: (1) it reached the point where it can do Bank
change when the pad is pushed. (2) the program in order to prevent the
malfunction of the pad due to noise and the like was strengthened.



Version 1.02 (2004/1/9) -------------------------

Correction place: The problem regarding trim editing - Discard
and the like after doing, the sample becomes unable to be visible, the
fact that it has the fact that you lock was improved.



Version 1.01 (2003/12/5) -------------------------

Correction place: Operation of the slider was improved.

I have it installed fo sho! DAMN we already on version 1.03! Hope it doesnt catch up to the 4k OS's that would be a sad story!

I like the fact that akai is releasing fixes as soon as they are available...better than waiting 6 moons for a "v2.0".

hell yeah on that. its great that theyre fixing stuff SORTA fast. some software companies are really really bad about that

i installed 1.03 this afternoon... its 10:30 pm now, no crashes yet or odd CF behavior. seems safe. YMMV

yo tiger, what CF card did you end up finding that worked for you?

the same fuji 256 mb cf ive been using. its really tempermental i guess. i spent a lot of time on the mpc today and only had one small glitch when i loaded this one project. everything else loaded and saved fine today.

i also formatted the card in the mpc today before starting. i think that may have helped too..? i was using the DOS format that was already on the card when i got it. or i think it's DOS, whatever was on there.

i was all set to return the CF card too, sheeeit

They did, only since the English language sites still don't have the OS for download, it's not posted on the site.

The following was in an English-only txt that came bundled in the zip with the OS update:

The MPC1000 V1.03 has been released with the following improvement and bug fixes from V1.02.

[Improvement]
1. PAD BANK select is now available while pressing PAD.

2. Other PAD reacts by noise without hitting PAD. --- improved

[Bug fix]
1. In the "Sample Edit" mode, System will hang up by execute "Extract" and "Discard" in particular operation. --- fixed

2. In the "Save" > "Directory" mode, System will hang up by "Delete" some files in the "ROOT". --- fixed

The pad bank fix is definitely a good thing, I'd been annoyed over that in the past.

Now if I only had an automatic wav loop-stripper to cure my cheaply-bought oneshot blues....
