I bought an mpc-1000 and low and behold, I have a dead pad I'm dealing with. I've been trying to just ignore it and work around it however this pad is linked to the step edit function. Since this is my first mpc, I have never had a chance to use step edit and I was wondering weather or not this is a important feature, or can I get buy without it?

Step Edit is very important when fine tuning your timing of samples within a seq.

To bypass the dead pad, you can go to your tempo and Press the WINDOW button. A screen will pop up and then pres the Edit button. Then all you gotta do is change the VIEW from Tempo (change) to View: ALL EVENTS.
There you go. This will work til you get your pad fixed.
