MPC not starting up...

So I left my MPC on last night and woke up to a boot screen that said some thing like: (sorry I'm not at home)

Check memory, system stall.

I turned it off then on again and it went through loading like version 1.06 or something (which i don't use) it did a % check on the memory or something and then said "check memory" system fault or something like that..

what the fug??? what had happened?

So this is the message that I keep getting when I power up...It goes right into this, doesn't display the MPC version or anything, right into this crap...

The problem was found in memory
Please check the memory.
system halt...."

THEN, if I try to do the OS reboot (power on + window) this is what shows up....My OS cant be found?????

"current OS file not found"

wtf?????

get detailed. What OS is running? Do you have additional memory installed? etc.

And why would you leave a mpc turned on when your not using it?

My OS is 2.1. I have no additional memory added as either a HD or CF card. Everything is stock how it came.

And I left the MPC on as a mistake....that's irrelevant...

if you have a Cf reader try formating it and put the OS back on it. Then try to go with the (power on+window). it might help.

the reason i asked why you left the mpc on is that there have been cases of folks leavin theirs on for days and weeks. I guess you just fell asleep;)

try holding ERASE as you turn on the MPC -- factory reset

it seems that the internal 16mb memory is dead no?

when did you buy it? if it's pretty new just send it back under warranty

Have you got the RAM expansion?

If so, try removing the RAM and re-booting.

Then try replacing it, making sure to seat the RAM firmly into the little sockety
plug bit (technical term).

So I don't know what the deal is here. I opened my MPC up and reseeded all the cables, etc. I've tried doing the [erase+power] etc. Nothing works.

So I called up Musicians Friend (where I ordered it) and they say that I don't have warranty but that there is a 1 yr manufaturers warranty on it and that I should call Akai. I did so got put through like 5 different people, then this one dude gave me a phone number to which is kept just ringing and ringing.
