How are people finding thier new baby MPC???

its been around 2 months now since the 1000's release.

i would like to know just out of interest how people are coping with thier 1000's, and how they rate it so far. i am very happy with my mpc 1000 apart from a lil drawback (as a few may know), but other than that i love it.

are you guys happy with the unit?

how would you comapre it with any other MPC's u may have used or own(ed)?

would you consider changing to another MPC?

the mpc1k is tight. it's my first mpc so i can't compare.

yeh its pretty tight the first few days were hectic but im catchin on fast and pumping out beats...cant compare either its my first MPC...

thats nice to hear.

although in the past i have mentioned my desire for making beats in my logic audio setup and even fruityloops...

i have to admit that using the pads is magic.

the 1000's pad are a bit small but they are nice and once you wear into them, they bounce nicer.

I'm a little disappointed in the sampling engine of the MPC. My own fault for not giving it enough attention when researching. It's way behind every other sampler on the market. I just figure akai meant "real-time" the same way everyone else does. I'm a tweaker at heart, and tweak the hell out of filters, effects, envelopes, etc. This doesn't even match what they put out in the s950 15 years ago.

But I like the sequencer, and it's ease of use. It makes creating music easy. And that's the important thing. Luckily, since I have a Nord Modular, I have plenty of power for outboard filters using the aux lines. So that softens the blow. But I did expect to be able to sample my drums & synths in the studio, and just take only the MPC on the road. I still do that, but need to spend more time tweeking the sounds in the studio, rather that "real-time" in the show.

yo, you know it does got filters, right?????

Yeah, it just can't sweep the filter while a sample's playing (q-link doesn't take until the sample restarts) or sweep the resonance at all. It'd be nice to at least have filter envelopes again, like the 2000xl had.

could you trigger the same sample twice in quick succession and then do the Q-link. Once it's in the sequencer, can you delete the first extra hit and heep the realtime sweep?

The is also a worse work around resampling the sample in the same double hit method with the sweep, then edit out the first part.

It's the filter movement *as* a sample is played that doesn't happen in the MPCs. The MPCs seem to set up the filters when the sample is triggered, and then ignores any q-link movement until the samples is retriggered. So if you've got a 2 bar beat, you can't change the filter during those 2 bars.

jk i know exactly what youre looking for with tweaking the filters. maybe theyll change how it's set up if enough people complain. it makes editing a sound kind of time consuming too

you cant even do it in program->filter. the filter doesnt change until the next trigger there either. and the stupid thing slows down the tempo while you try!

about the original question, i think the 1000 is great. im doing all this music on it and it doesnt have that stupid computer sound.. these keyboards are running in real time with it,,,, and into AN ACTUAL MIXER, not some mixer lookin bu11$hit on a noisy cancer zapping crt screen. granted my mixer is trash but whatever. i dont care because the music is funky and it's fun to make

im using a juno 106, vintage pro, and concertmate RAPMASTER keyboard with the mpc. plus lots and lots of samples on the hard drive. ive got no complaints about anything

This is my first. I like it. I'm still learning the ropes. I would like to know how a real pro would work it. I'm a little disappointed because in all honesty I believed people when they said it's the easiest thing to do tracks on. I'd hate to see the hard stuff.

What's a RAPMASTER?

you need it to master rap. its the same thing as a casio rapman but with a different brand name

I should be getting mine about March sort of time. My first MPC. Was going to get a 2KXL but I've been swayed towards the 1000 recently, as the price in the UK seems to be dropping a bit.

My expectations are high, I hope the little feller can live up to them...!
