yo why are yall (subtley) discouraging this person from doing this?

the software could only help everyone...

they are doing it because mpc3000 is the only one who makes the program and of course he doesnt want to have any competition. If the person is talking about making it freeware, and i am making money off of it, hell no i aint givin him the code. I mean if you were in mikes position, then im sure you wouldnt give the code up. But like every other person I would like to know the code too. I just want to make one to my own personal liking.

Ok i understood the position of the only one developper.
It does'nt matter !

"get in touch with akai or somethin"

Akai US does not know the format. Akai Japan knows it since they created it but they are not in the habit of disclosing it. Making it publicly available creates compeition against Akai. For example, Roland sought the MPC format and were willing to pay for it so they could import PGM format into the MV. Akai, under no circumstances, would willingly give up that information and it ends up in Roalnd hands, since having PGM import on the MV would give people another reason not to buy an MPC.

"this version can't import an program file and i want to develop this fonction"

Well shucks, have you ever thought about asking the developer? I hear he adds all kinds of stuff to apps at request. If he never here's from anyone then what will he know to add? Are you sure he is not already planning to put this feature in?

Plus, I think the MPC1000 software will be free anyway as a gift to all the MPC1000 owners.

Not to give anyone any bad ideas, but.....there is also "reversed engineering"

Yeah you can reverse engineer it if you want.... :D

I did it but not all the format, just the things I needed to know. But it does take some time.
