so those bastards akai are shipping the new pads (which look identical to the old pads from the outside) with all new mpc1000's? boy, that sure is shitty of them. if only there were some way to stick it to the proverbial man...

on a completely unrelated subject...

did you guys know that almost every online distributor of music gear has some sort of no questions asked, money-back refund policy? wouldn't it be great if someone figured out a way of using that concept (coupled with the fact that defective products handled by these distributors are generally just sent back to the manufacturer for a refund) to their ethically-gray advantage?

;)

that's good for people who just recently bought it
but sucks for the old timers who have done all the suffering

you're not thinking creatively enough... a set of two year old pads looks the same as a set of brand new ones...

i mean dang i dont think any current 1000 users can be bitching about anything when they didnt have to use version 1.07 or struggle with breaking pads or buttons....

Is your back panel black or silver?
Did it come in the "Sexy" black box with 128mbCF?

The ones with the black audio panels are the newest versions, which also come in black boxes with 128mb cf and updated mauals.

You can tell by the feel. Push the center of the pad. Does it push down the whole pad or is it stiff?

The newer ones arent stiff feeling like the old ones.

yeah i'm a little confused also
cause my pads feel NOTHING like my friends 2000xl pads
i got my mpc1000 a little over a month ago
but its black one
but it came in a blue blox and not the black box like i saw for the newer ones
and the pads are awfully bad compared to my friends 2000xl
i went to a guitar center today
they had a black mpc on the floor
and the pads were like the old ones
i'm pissed
wish i could return it

to confirm;
i hava BLACK ed. 1k but (though i haven't opened it) it does not have new pads (some respond differently, ie lower). only the ones with the black backing could have new pads.

did the blues come with 128megs :?
