Need help recording sequences - Midi Time Code

I bought a used MPC1000 at a local store yesterday and im still trying to work out a few things. My main problem is i have a bunch of tracks on a sequence and pads that i assigned with samples i want to record, but when i hit Over Dub and Play or Record and Play, a sentence comes up at the bottom of the screen saying "Waiting for MIDI time code." What does this mean and how do i fix this problem.

above the track #, does it say "drum" or "midi"? if it says "midi", change to "drum".

it says drum already, on the right theres a box that says PC and MIDI. Under PC i have Seq and under MIDI i have OFF. You cant turn the midi on in this section, only assign it to a pad in either bank a or b.

mode>pad 9, sync tab, turn both "sync in" and "sync out" off.
