Hi everyone.

I have been struggling with something for a minute too long: I recently bought an MPC 1000 and I want to sequence it with a number of banks off of my Novation A-Station rack synth. Here's my problem...

I've read both manuals, cover to cover, but I still cannot get the two to work off each other. I set the A-Station's 'global' setting to 'local > off', making it the slave. I set up the MPC to send MIDI out. I hooked up my USB keyboard to run into the MPC, from the MPC out to the A-Station. The A-Station won't recieve the MIDI, although it's all set to MIDI channel 1, with the local off. Weird.

I'm sure I'm just overlooking some little minor step, but can someone please help me out? I'd really appreciate it!

Word.

Try reworking those connections.

try and proceed sequentially to locate the problem in your midi chain.
1 - does the mpc send midi to the a station? set track 1 on your MPC to Midi channel 1A (or B if the a station is hooked to the B out port), and hit the pads in full level mode, can you hear anything from the a station?
if yes, move to step 2, if not rework your midi settings and connections on the a station and MPC until it works.
2 - can you record midi from your keyboard into an MPC track? if yes you're almost set, if not rework your settings and connection with the keyboard.

Does the A station even have a midi in?

Yeah, you're right on the multitimbral thing...I realize that now...and yes, The A-Station has MIDI in/out/thru.
