Ok im finally fed up and im contacting a lawyer right now on this pad issue garbage.

this is what i wrote:

Akai professional has released the mpc 1000 in 2004. In purchasing this product me and fellow beatmakers were under the impression that the mpc 1000 was like the other previous models as far as preformance. the pads on the machine are faulty and will eventually break during casual preformance. I know this because it happened to me and others. if you need proof check the mpc forums on this topic.
http://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=84741
In light of this akai has released a pad upgrade for $200.00. which is unreasonable due to the fact that this is the same design that all previous (longer lasting) models had. I think that if a company is going to release a machine for musical preformance that it should be built up to the quality that it was advertised for.
http://www.akaipro.com/prodMPC1000.php
There is also rumors of akai releasing the mpc 1000 with the pad "upgrade" without raising the price.
Im sorry. I feel that this company has already made off with my $1000.00 and its just unfair that me and my fellow musicians would have to pay for such an "upgrade". We should all be compensated for this deceptive buisness practice. and receive free "upgrades, vouchers, or money for our defective product."
Everyone on the forums that own MPC 1000's are upset but don't know how and where to start. Here is a link of our petition of akai professional's deceptive buisness practices.

i just sent them this.

Akai Professional LTD released the MPC1000 sampler in 2004.
This electronic musical instrument was advertised as having "great feeling, velocity sensitive pads for expressive performance." This was the 6th of the MPC series, which until the MPC1000, used pressure sensors built by Interlink Electronics. The MPC1000 used a different type of sensor which have been revealed as flawed, resulting in a break.

Employees of certified Akai Repairs center "Virtual Sounds Technology" in Pasadena, CA, can attest to the flaw, as can a large number of MPC1000 users.

since the MPC1000, Akai has released 2 other MPCs and one keyboard midi controller, all of which use FSR technology similar to the old units. Akai no longer uses the pad technology that is found in the MPC1000.

Akai has since released a fix to their MPC1000 problem, describing it as an "UPGRADE" and charging 200 dollars USD. New MPC1000s are being shipped with the Akai pad fix already installed with no price increase, while old users whose pads have broken must pay 200.

Akai maintains that there was nothing wrong with the original pad sensor, despite continued emails of complaint from many users.

This is not an isolated problem, this is an actual design flaw which I can demonstrate fully and clearly upon request.

to me, this is the crux of the arguement - that the 1000 was advertised as being
essentially the same as all previous MPC's.

i think this is an overwhelming point.

...not that i'm a lawyer or have any understanding of the court system.

Im sure with your overall extensive knowledge and research on the pad issue will be a clincher in getting this case rolling!

i hope more forum members participate in sending e-mails to the law firm.

i think its unfair to anyone to pay any price for a design flaw!!!

more power to those who have the money to spend for a company's mistake. which is the reason why akai (and other corporations) are able to get away with murder for so long!

its easier to spend money for a fix than to fight for what we deserve!

It's worth a shot folks what do we got to lose!!!!

Antonym, you have my respect for being the pittbul terrier you are!

I'm pretty sure Akai sold -shiploads- of 1k's and that's the reason
they try to get away with it this way. To compensate all of the owners
will financially and logistically be a BIG operation. Doing justice and
polishing up their brandname will probably cost as much as what they
initially earned on each unit. Essentially meaning they have to start
all over again making money, with the "upgraded" generation 1k's

I believe in good and bad karma, and for the decisionmakers at Nukai
this seems to hurt enough, to take bad karma for granted.
Not realizing, bad karma in the end, is so much more expensive...
Maybe we should teach our children to take a look in the mirror each
and every day, saying: "I'm in peace with the people I have to deal
with, and that are dependant from my decisions"

This whole thing is so symptomatic for where we are moving.
Let us be awake!

again: sympathy for you, my friend!

 , I'm not too good at this sh!t either, but I dont think they are gonna take a "beatmaker" serious. You should give yourself a more formal title.
