Load wav samples directly from laptop

Hi, I'm new to samplers in general, glad to find this forum. I have a CD with wav files. I'm wondering if I can just "drag and drop" samples from my computer to my mpc, then assign them to a program, rather than actually recording them as audio data? Are the samples in my mpc wav files?

yes, you can drop them into the mpc IF they're 16 bit, 44100 hz which is the type of wav your mpc accepts/records.

there is also a neat program called bluebox that you can try to assign samples from on your pc and create a program file
