MPC does not see hard drive

I just installed an hitachi 40 gb hard drive. The problem I am having is the MPC is not seeing my hard drive. I had a 5gb Fijitsu that worked fine. Has anyone seen this issue and if so is there a fix. I have jj os 4.73.

Did you buy it new? Have you tried to get a laptop or desktop computer to read it? If its used it could just be busted.

Thanks for the reply. But Yes it is used. I got it from a old working laptop. Do you know if the Hitachi hard drives work with the MPC?

That might be it. I first used a used Fujitsu 40 GB. It was cool for like 2 weeks and then it stopped working all of a sudden. I think you should get yourself a new HD. Having a reliable storage place for you music is priceless. I think that is the overall solution to this problem. Hope that helps bro.

I have an old IBM/Hitachi 6gb that I originally used. There's nothing wrong with it at all, but I upgraded it for a Seagate 80gb.
What could be preventing your drive from working could be just a matter of removing the jumpers. Let me know if that helps.
