I'm currently in the process of doing so and I have the following problems to report...

1. MPC 1000 will only load MOST of the program parameters from the 2k.

2. Depending on how you name your samples, the names may become corrupted, resulting in a need to manually assign them within the program and SOME MAY BE DELETED ENTIRELY. Watch out. Back up your work.

3. The 1k will NOT load .ALL files from the 2k. You must save each .MID sequence INDIVIDUALLY with the 2k and then load and assemble them within the 1000. This would not be TOO insane except that...

4. The MIDI sequences you load from the 2k WILL BE MISSING "Track - 1" That is, the first track of the loaded sequence in the 1k will be whatever "Track - 2" was in the 2k. Track 1 is Completely Missing. The work around is VERY TIME CONSUMING. I had to copy track 1 to track 30 or whatever empty track I had available, MANUALLY and for each track. = HOURS OF WORK.

5. Finally, The Tracks that occupy Spaces 56 through 64 will not register (At least with JJOS) because those tracks are marked as audio and will not "see" the MIDI tracks.

So, unless you want to drop 100 or so dollars on a program translator, be prepared to do a LOT of tweaking to move your songs from the 2k (not XL By The Way, I cannot say anything about that) to the 1k.

Good luck all.

Hell Yes. The only reason I can't start over is because I had planned on using the MPC to run beats for my live show. I had 2 albums worth of beats that I am STILL in the process of transferring. Should be done this weekend though.
