eq compression

on the mpc 1000 can i eq, compress, and edit and tweak my drums i sample or buy on a sample cd to make my drums sound like how i want? and can i save them like that? and is the newest o.s on akai's website anything close to the jj o.s, like what are the difference between the o.s that comes with the 1000 and the newest one on the akai website? can i pitch shift and timestretch?
