i'll never buy an akai product again, i'll tell ya this much

i was new into production when i bought my mpc 1000 and got it becuz i didn't want to use software

i got it when it first came out and saw all the other hiphop producers using mpc's so i figured it was the best way to go reading about the swing and this and that

i'm glad i only wasted $1000 on an akai product becuz their customer support sucks, updates suck, and this pad thing is complete crap and i feel like i'm getting the shaft. Ever hear of re-calls?

now i know i could've got the mv or a workstation keyboard and been able to chop and play back my sequences exactly the same but with better products

i'm not purchasing another akai product and recommending everyone i know not to either

if it wasn't for JJ-OS this machine would be worthless to me

concentrate on the good, now
properly suited up with the appropriate os, the 1000 offers a workflow i can't beat anywhere else.

stick it to em though. the only mpc i advise people to buy anymore is a 2nd hand mpc1000. otherwise, no more akai products for me, ever.

Lately I been seeing people just continuous complain about the MPC1000. Me personally, I am having no trouble, and I still uses the Akai OS. I have been able to do all that I wanted to do and needed to do as far as production. The only wish I have is the circuity of the board, I wish it was more like the MPC3000. I am not on here to debate, but state my opinion and support for a machine that is allowing me to get the job done. If the company been around for over 2 decades, they must be doing something right. Old school cats I work with have no problem with the product.

i have a sony md player i bought almost eight years ago for about 200 bones. i've dropped it, spilled liquid on it, taken it to several music festivals, thrown it, and even plugged it into a power source that the adaptor wasn't made for.

still works great...

the day i opened my mpc and tested it i noticed differences in the pads(velocity wise), some more responsive than others. i sure wouldn't want to drop it.

that said, let's get positive or at least get over it! we did get a pad replacement kit.
and i think a lot of people will think twice about buying akai in the future.

yeah. there is a lesson to be learned here, after all this is done.

remain positive based on the current situation. we can be happy, now, or could be after the last bullet-bite of a pad fix purchase. we can be happier by leaving the akai os, leaving all the bugs that they left in their machine and do not appear to intend to fix. we can leave that os because they have obviously shown that they are not interested in pushing the software as far as it can go, unlike other coding entities.

with that in consideration, we can see our mpc1000s as no longer theirs.

when i was a kid, i had a kid's boombox called the "my first sony."
now, i have an mpc called "my last akai."



that being said, while the situation is not resolved and never will be, it's TIRED. people are pissed off - that's completely, 100% justified and reasonable. it would take a lot to shake that belief.

I would definitely buy another Akai product. The way I like to make beats makes MPCs a necessity. Just cuz I hate the lines and nasty restrooms at Walmart, does not mean I would not ever shop there again.
