sync my MPC-1000 with ProTools

so, i just bought my MPC-1000 to confirm my love on 1st sight... of coarse i read a lot about it and i truely love my new friend.
but, question...: my recording studio is Pro Tools-based and i'm used to recording a lot of audio. now, when i want to sync with my mpc there is of coarse midi-clock. the problem is: when i want to start a song (while working on it) let's say, in the middle....it seems to be impossible to sync properly with my mpc because there is no midi-time-code included....
is there a way to solve this problem? sending sysex messages on a midi-track in ptotools, or so?
is the mpc-1000 in the future upgradable with MidiTimeCode?
i'd really love it to work like this....

Sure there is an upgrade, it's called the MPC3000 which is MTC, midi clock and SMPTE capable.

I am not sure if the MPC is SPP capable which is essentially a positioning utility but it would only take a minute to check to see if your Software has it enabled to send.

i don't think the mpc-100 is SSP-capable.
it doesn't say and, besides, the manual says you're able to play and stop via midi but it won't give any time-information.
so, i was thinking to either record midi-tracks (made on the mpc) into protools and let my mpc work as a soundmodule or, if it's possible only give program changes or other codes to tell my mpc to play a certain sequence.....
so i was wondering.... WHAT can i do?? any advise?

i would not use the mpc as a sound module. it'd sorta kill the point wouldnt it?

i do as much as i can with the mpc, then i just print it. if you wanna do your vocals or something but your beat isnt finished, you can always print a rough mix right out of the mpc.

when youve done the finished version of your sequences, just re-record it back into PT and slide the waveform around to keep it sorta sample accurate.

with ONLY 8mb Ram capacity, i would sure say its definately a downgrade.

the lack of MTC, and other sync formats doesnt make the MPC 1000 any lesser, as i could pinpoint millions of downsiders with the 3000.

I've done it no problem. I was using OS9 though but should work in OSX

1. Turn on Midi Beat Clock
2. Turn off MTC and MMC
3. Plug midi out into midi in of mpc
4. enable sync on your midi channel on mpc
5. When you press play on pro-tools the mpc should follow

I am pretty sure these are the steps i did.

thanks tiger vomitt, i just might take your advise and work like this (making temporary prints and all that), but i think, no, i hope, there is a better, easier and more direct way to sync.... THERE SHOULD BE, i'd say...

but, still, i don't think you fully understand my problem...
midi clock will tell my mpc-1000 when to start playing, but not WHERE... as no location-information is exchanged...
i'm still looking for the best sollution.. any ideas?

would love to see MMC & MTC in the 1k. This is somehting I really miss from my time with the mpc4k...

however, the workflow cycle of 'printing' my tracks off the mpc1k is acttually allowing me to work faster. I find something I like, commit it, and move forward to the next thing... which is tough to do if all your options are always open...

i was playing around with good ol fashioned mute mixes earlier tontie, using the track mute screen. it's soooo addictive! it makes things go from 4 bar loop to fleshed out song in like one pass

between that and using the note repeat in real time, jesus it is so much fun. and recording it is cool cuz there is this element of performance to it. it adds this human touch to it.

now if i can just get it to not sound like a retard got let loose on the mute buttons of a console...
