samples do not stop playing at 2 or 4 bars mark.help?

well i usually put my sequences from the mpc into ableton live and then add some instruments from the plug-ins i have etc. i usually use 2 or 4 bars sequences and work on them in Live building up the song. im tired of trimming the tracks to get them 4 bars long cuz i don't think its really accurate. so how do i get the samples at the end of the sequence to stop when the sequence hits the 2 or 4 bars mark? for instance...maybe near the end of the sequence length i trigger a sample thats long, it will keep on going. but i want it to stop at the 2 or 4 bars mark.
help!?

You can do it in trim mode.
Move the end point of the sample in to the point you want it to stop.

Also:
The JJ OS has an immediate stop feature - one shot samples can be set to stop immediately at the end of the sequence. This is quite a minor addition in comparison to all the other features of this OS.

is there anything similar to that on the pre installed OS.because in trim mode you would have to trim every single sample playing near the end of the sequence and then create a new sample just for what im trying to achieve. would there be a way to calculate with accuracy how long in seconds bars are in relation to the bpms they have?

In the program you could set the playback mode to note on, instead of one shot. When recording this means you have to hold your finger on the pad, the sample will stop when you take your finger off.

Alternatively you could set a pad without a sample on it to mute other pads.

thats how i usually did it but...i thought there might have been some option to go without that trick..oh well ill keep to it.

you should be able to set it to stop recording after a set number of bars.

i think i understand ur question..what u can do if this is on the mpc1000 is add a mute group to shut up the loop ur running.. just add that mute pad to the end of where ever u want ur sound to stop..another one is having this nifty lil calculator by ur side for whatever needs u may need it for

another option is using wavosour to do ur cutting

wavosour is easy and free just use the "m" key that places a mark point on the wavform, go nuts add as many as u want and go to file export splices and wha la all cut up..

yeah thats what i was looking for..a calculator...i mean, when i chop the melody in sound forge, i will then just set the value that comes out of the calculation. i think its easier than having to use the mute pad trick. but easier doesnt always mean accurate. i'll have to check it out, plus i just have to do a 5 bars loop with the last bar including the mute pad. when i get that...ill just use that value to chop the other tracks.
