first i create a new sequence away from my real work and then i add the sample to step editor to the first step.. i set my bars to one bar and hit play i then start tapping to the beat after 2bars or one try i then tweak the tempo manually till it loops seamlessly perfect to the ear and when it does than u know then u have the tempo for the loop..theres also the mathmatical way but thats in my journal..
btw now that u got this far rename ur sample with the tempo in there..and if u ever decide to resample it to a higher or lower note make sure to rename ur file to the new tempo so u know for the reason im bout to give u..the only reason would be if u wanna try pp..patch phrasing is a dream to mod trackies but a reality to us mpc owners..check out patch phrase if ur workn with loops
also knowing the tempo to the original sample is important cause u can then timestretch..timestretch works great in mpc but not that great..others methods of stretch is using pitch..it works better with smaller samples gives it a swingy kinda sound to it and somtimes samples just sound better pitchd then timestretchd..give it all a shot and hit us up how it goes ..good luck to u
