Hi MPC users,

I was in the middle of mixing in the MPC when all of a sudden my MPC just froze. I couldn't get out of it and had to restart it which I lost all of my work I did. Can anybody tell me the reason why? Is it because of the RAM ?, OS?, or just too much stuff going on at the same time? Please help so this doesn't happen again. thanks in advance.

could be any of the above, but also cosmic radiation and sun spot activity (not joking). One occasional freeze, although annoying, is not really a problem. Problems are: freeze often with no apparent reason, and systematic freezes, reproducible with a given series of action (we call that a bug).
Good luck.

quite simply it shouldnt crash. i had a faulty mpc i ordered off ebay. it used to crash with a scrambled screen completely randomaly. i sent it off for repairs, luckily it got lost by the collection company, and on insurance i got a brand new fully functioning mpc. i was lucky.

i would recommend taking ur ram out and seeing if u get any crashes. could b the ram.

could b overheating. but since ive had my new working mpc, its never crashed, and ive left it on for hours. u might want to consider sending it in for repairs. i know it sounds crap, but it could b a hardware fault.

Thanks for the advice and info. I bought my MPC since April from Guitar Center and I have a two year warranty on it. Now its a good time to put my warranty to use.

Overall, It happened to me 3 times during mixing. But I will be more careful with leaving it on when not in use, storing is near sunlight, and so on.

Thanks.
