More than 4 velocities per note?

New guy and I have a question....

can you assign more than 1 pad to the same note so that you get get more than 4 velocities. I want to have a snare that has 16 velocity layeres or more.

I currenlty break the snare track up in the sequence and assign it to several notes but I'll like to create drum tracks on the computer and then not have to split them up into so may notes so they are compatable on lots of software and devices..

nice. it's a luxury to have such a velocitative span

depending on what operating system you are running, you could SIMULT 4 pads together, creating 16 velocity layers. pad 1, say, would have layers 1-4. pad 2 would have layers 5-8, and so on. 1 sample would be chosen depending on how hard you hit the pad.

thanks that seems like what I would want.....couple of questions though...

1) I don't actually hit the pads...they would be triggered by a external sequencer or the internal sequencer....so if I hit C1 would that mult out to all pads if I assign them to the same note. You can now assign the same note to mulitiple pads but it does not have any effect.

2) I guess that I would have to upgrade to this JJ os 4. I need more than 24 programs so. Can I get back to the regular 2.1 if for some reason I don't like this OS? Is that OS reliable and who is JJ?

any midi note would tell the original pad to play, which would tell the other pads to play depending on velocity. you're good there. you wouldn't need to assign the same note to multiple pads.

jj 4.95 is more reliable than os 2.11

One other question...does this other os have the ability to play a "release sample"

ie like the finger noise when you release a bass note on a real bass.

No 4.9 is OS 1..and no there's no release sample with JJ..
You should get a Ensoniq ASR 10 for your needs..it's got release sample and 8 layers velocity switching.
ASR's the best..with a MPC1000

I thought I was sold but I have run into a problem.....

I download the jjOS1 and installed it...I checked to make sure the pad thing I wanted was working.....but...I noticed none of my old programs or sequences loaded?

Is that right...will none of the old stuff work? If not I think I might have to forgo....I got way too much stuff in the old OS.....

I'm hoping this is just because I did not enter a password yet....

ok..nevermind about the above .I figured out you can load all your old programs manually.....


does the autoload not work in jj? I also was trying to play one of my samples and after about 5 bars the program would change automatically from one of the programs I had to the DJ Hip-set one.
