two little problems?

Two little issues:

1. When i program a sequence, on the MPC2000 I could easily change the velocity of the sequence in the main window on the fly - is this really not possible on the MPC1000? It looks like I can only change the volume of the sample in the program... which means it woulkd affect all sequences using that program

2. Also how can I grab all the channels at once in the mixer rather than having to make a small adjustment 64 times...

I know these seem basic questions but this machine is not obvious to me. Coming back to the 1000 after a break I must say I am veering more towards the MPC2000 as a more ergonomic and enjoyable machine.. with the lack of drum slots I feel the MPC2000 for all its technological inferiority much better reflects how my mind and hands want to make music... I hope i chnage my mind about this in the next few days...

Those are 2 good questions, but the anwer for both is : Impossible. I wish it coudl be possible thou.

I'd also like to be able to route a sample both to stereo outputs and an individual output - as on the mpc2000 - so i can throw a track out to a vocoder or something and still hear the original track...

I can't believe there is no individual track level control - that is so fukking stupid - with the 2000 you do all your basic level mixing in the main page in real time - C'mon Akai, wake up dudes! As it stands i don't really wanna put tracks together on this machine yet, changing track levels is crucial to what i do, and I nearly always end up reducing the levels of the individual tracks after I programmed them in

I'm feeling that my original proposition that the MPC1000 is a gigging machine and not really a composing machine is really true - I really hope Akai can get it together to provide a new more basic facilties before too long

i used to feel the same way. then i figured it out - just duplicate the pad and route it wherever you like. sounds like a big deal but in reality it doesnt take long. a workaround for sure, but it seems worth it to me

Richard cop the MV-8000 or the MPC 4000 that would fit your needs fo sho playa!

I think the next step for an 2k user is an 4k not a 1k. Just coz it's the latest MPC doesn't mean it's the best. I've lived with the 1k for a few weeks & realised there's loads of stuff missing. This is my first MPC, henced why I'm checking it out - but if your already using a 2k then a 1k is a step back (with the exception of USB for mass storage etc).

The 4k looks heavy! Seriously considering that one
