timing : earlier / later

I am looking for the Timing "earlier / later" option on the mpc 1000 i can't find it . I use this feature a lot on my MPC 3000 : I go to the timing page (where you choose the type of quantise you want to use ) and there is this sort of "shuffle" feature that i can't seem to find on the mpc 1000 , would someone know how or where i should look for this option? Thanks.

there is some sort of "shuffle" when you hit F1 in the main screen you
get to the time correct window. there you can change the swing, that is some kind of shuffle.

There is no manual quantise function on the 1000! This has been requested to Akai but whether they'll include it in a software update or not is uncertain as a far as I know. There is a long way to do this - which is by copying an event then paste at a choosen position in the Step Edit page (View: All Events).

There are a couple of things that they've missed out on. This is a real cut down version of the MPC series. I think you're better off with your 3k.

There are syncing issues aswell, as this only receives 'Midi Clock' which isn't that accurate, it doesn't play back your groove in exactly the same way you sequenced it when slaving from Logic (in my case).

I've lived with the MPC1k for a few weeks & I'm seriously considering an MPC4000 - it has SMPTE as standard as well as everything else you could possibley need

if you got the money cop it if your not satisfied with your 1k.

Use Seq Edit / Move. Does the same thing.

you say its the same thing...

but i can never seem to pre delay on the 1000.

for example move my Snares 1 tick EARLIER.

How???

i've never been able to do it.

Simple, move all events but the snare BACK one tick.

Man! If I don't like where a beat is hitting I just set timing correct to off and hit the pad right exactly when I want it to hit while over-dubbing. Simple! Well first I clear out the wrongly placed sound while holding down erase and the pad while in overdub, but I'm sure you catch my drift.

If you want to move a particular event after recording just a tick/s earlier or later then try Step Edit (PAD 14). Copy the event (F3) (e.g. hat or snare by choosing the appropriate track (F2)) then go to the top & move to the position (by moving the last 2 digits after the decimal up or down) you desire then paste, then delete the one you copied from. Keep doing this process until you get the desired feel.

This sounds long, but it's fine once you've done it a few times.
