The MPC doesn't directly convert songs into mp3 format. The sequencer and mpc are a midi trigger device designed to trigger sounds in a sequence, based on timing, etc.
So essentially when you record an mp3 you are recording that audio. You can resample (MODE + Record) and change the input from ANALOG to MAIN OUT. Then when you record this converts whats coming out of your main outs as another sample. aka resampling
You can also plug the main outs into a computer interface device (like a digidesing mbox, firepod, etc. etc.) and record that audio data onto your computer, which you can then convert it to mp3 format. There are a host of audio to digital interface devices and programs that you can use, all ranging in price and quality.
Your music is underground not because of any choice that you made, but because it is probably garbage.
