MPC crashes with 128MB CF card

I bought a 128MB card ('Sandisk' brand) for my 1000.

Everything was fine the first tiome I used it - dragged some WAV files to it from my harddisk on my iMac (using a USB CF reader), put the card in the MPC, set up a Program etc etc.

The next day, though, I turned on the MPC and it just locked up. Worked fine when I ejected the CF card... and locked up again when I put it back in. I realised the machine was running os 1.02 fresh from the shop, so upgraded to 1.03 but have the same problems.

ONLY with the new 128MB card, though - the original 32MB card is always OK. I never have any problems with the 128 card on the Mac - only in the MPC.

Does this just sound like a faulty CF card - or has anyone else experienced the same problems ?

Sandisk 128 MB failed for me too

I 've changed it for a compactflash card Memup 128 MB ..and all is good now...

OK - thanks. Must be Akai's fault, I reckon.

I wish I could say that the issue was just the card for me, fact is It happens to me with all cards, I have not found one that works all the time.

I have been sending the posts to Akai and they said they are working on this.

i had to try a few different cards before one worked too. i wanted (and bought) a 512 card originally but it wouldnt work. i stepped down to a 256 card, that didnt work. i ended up with a 128MB fuji card that works pretty well.

at this point it may just be a matter of finding one that agrees with your mpc. it sucks, but that's what happens when you buy something so new...

crucial 256meg working great for me

their stuff just about ALWAYs seems to work okay on everything

except for MPC1000 RAM of course
