**** Bullshit - MPC is Fried, Random Buttons, Not Turning

What's Good Everybody,

So, I'm ready to jump off a cliff and strangle someone pretty much, I'm so angry...

Basically, this past month my MPC has started to play random sounds while making my beats...

Not recording, but while it's just sitting there, whether I'm going to the bathroom, or taking a break etc.

I never was sure what it was, and really didn't care because it didn't happen to much, but now, tonight, it won't stop doing it.

Now, whenever I turn on my MPC, it does it constantly, to the point where I can't even make a beat now...

It's weird, it's almost like someone else is just banging on the pads...

If ANYONE knows how to fix this, PLEASE, tell me... I'm at wits end, and very very upset... I have a potential client who may need the Pro Tools Sessions here and there's no way to do so with this **** thing acting like this...

So please, anyone, anyone, anyone, anyone....

Have you tried adjusting your pad sensitivity? Is the sensitivity set too high to where the slightest vibration is triggering your pads?

Give us more info...

Which os?

Any recent modifications? i.e. new hard drive, new memory, etc?



Its a stretch since this sounds like a hardware malfunction, but you could try a factory reset (power on while holding ERASE), and then you will have to re-install your current OS.

First thing to try is to reset that puppy (POWER ON + ERASE). If that does nothing, the only thing I can think of of with the info you've given is the old "loose screw" problem. Stuff like this has come up before and there's a post somewhere in the archive that traced the problem to a single loose internal screw that was shorting out the circuit board. The problem sort of creeped up on them as the screw worked it's way out. I can't remember where the screw is supposed to be in there, somewhere in the archive there might even be a post with pictures.

BTW I think that the first member to report (and find the cause of) this problem was punchdrunk. You can search his posts but there's about ten billion of them in the archive and this happened awhile ago. You could also try sending him a PM.

Yeah, so I'm pretty heated about this whole issue...

It's like, I've had my MPC for a year and 2 months... This shit should not be happening you know...

Not to mention, I have an opportunity to sell my first beat to a major artist ou on the West Coast, and if the deal goes through, I have to track it into Pro Tools, and it's like, how the **** do I manage to do something like that with a **** paranormal MPC? You know?

Anyways, I appreciate everyones advice on here, I apologize from now replying, I've been busy trying to get this thing fixed...

In any case, if you could be more specific and perhaps give me the link for the "Loose Screw" issue, I would be very thankful... I tried searching, and I'm waiting on PunchDrunk to message me back, so I hope he has some wisdom to drop....

kinda crazy how you said this, i have a story about a loose screw and a harddrive...well i have this firend who used to MOD Xbox's. While he was learnign how to once he was takign it apart and was lifting a screw up and he dropped it. It hit the harddrive, made a spark and the xbox basically just died.

But to answer the O.P. question, i was thinking it might have somethign to do with a pad getting stuck down, or maybe the wire that connects the pads to the rest of the mpc's computer parts might be loose.

So, very strange tonight...

I was attempting to try and fix my MPC, taking apart wires, doing everything I can do, and all of a sudden I hear the words "Czar" come out of my right monitor whenever I pressed my pad...

Then... an arm came out and grabbed my nuts from the CF Slot....

But word up, my shit is working as of right now

I thought, maybe my MIDI cables are **** up, and something is triggering it.

So what I am doing now, is instead of running the IN A port and the Out A Port, I have switched it to Ports B...

Haven't had a problem yet tonight...

As great as it all is, I got a **** knock at my door tonight from the cops, apparently my neighbors complained... So that shit **** sucks...
