i record my synth directly to my mpc. so i would say you need instrument cables and some speakers.

Yeah but Midi is probably better so your gonna need a mixer to audition sounds so you can hear them or use headphones.

Don't know if Akai's OS has it, but JJ OS has 'Input Thru' so all you need is intrument cables into the stereo-In's

Roland midi out/in to Mpc.
Roland audio out to mixer.
Roland set as slave, MPC set as master clock/sequencer.
MPC audio out to mixer.
Mixer out to powered monitors.

That's my guess..

Me too, I don't use a hardware mixer at all. I just keep with my digi001, that's about it.

i would definatley go with the setup lampdog reccommended, but i wudn't use the mpc as my sequencer, using your comptuer as a sequencer can be quicker and easier to manage.

you don't need a mixer... what you NEED are some 1/4 audio cables... MIDI DOES NOT CARRY SOUND.

If u got the JJ OS just plug the keyboards STEREO OUTS to the RECORD IN on your MPC 1k and then go to MODE/MIXER and set the INPUT THRU to ON. Now when u hit the keys on the Fantom u should hear them playing through the headphones/monitors u have connected to the MPC. U can still MIDI the Fantom and MPC and still have the MPC as the main sequencer.
