Running samples through the computer?

Ok, well since the MPCs have limited space, is there a way i can sample things off the TT into my computer, and save all my samples onto the computer, then just using the USB, bring the smaples i want into my MPC?

i know i can run a turntable through my mixer into my computer, and i have bluebox installed for samples...

so is this possible, do i need another peice of software, or is it all jsut a crazy idea of mine?

There are a few ways to do this.. IT is up to your imagination.....


There is freeware called Audacity that can be used to capture sounds, but you could also use the recording program most pc's come with out of the box. What you will nee to do is figure out how to connect your TT to your pc with a usable signal....

I have a couple of Numark USB TT that came with UAdacity and I can pull the sample that way..... If you have a turntable with built in Amp you should be able to plug them into the line input on your PC using a RCA to 3.5 adapter.....

If you have older non amplified TT's you must have a mixer that is wired to your TT and CPU via the same RCA to 3.5 adapter.....


This is basic stuff, there are other ways to go about this, but these are the ways I have exp doing it......

ok, thanks for the help...to help you a little, i have an older set of TT and mixer i got both for free, they are gemini pmx60 mixer adn gemini xl 500 turntable...the turntable is plugged into the mixer

so when i go to radioshack in a little bit i need to buy an adapter for the mixer, i might as well get the cord from the mixer out to the computer in then too, it would be an RCA out to a ? in....where would i plug this in the computer? a 1/4 jack next to where the speakers are plugged? its a PC

The adapter I was referring to has 2 RCA's on one end, and the other end is the same as the headphone jack end (3.5)...... You will plug the RCA ends into the output of the mixer and the headphone jack end into the "Line in" on the PC (which is usually next to the mic input)....

Like I said earlier this is the lotech approach to tackling this issue......
