obviously, this should be done with the machine switched off.
underneath the mpc1000 you will see a flap, you have to undo the two screws. then lift off the small plate.
you should now see the memory.
note: touch something metal before touching the the chip, this should discharge any static that could harm it.
ether side of the chip you will see two little metal clips.
push them in opposing directions and the chip should flip towards you ready to be taken out.
to put the chip back seat the chip in the socket then push it in and back gently
till you hear & see the two metal clips hold the chip.

First of all, thanks for all of your help. But there are no metal clips in my 1k. I put the ram in, but it just seems to click in. I hoped that you could press it again and it would pop back up, but this is not the case. It seems to be held down by plastic. I tried to pry it up, but I really feel as though I am forcing it and I don't want to ruin anything more than is already in jeopardy... ?

When watching the vid above, you will notice the bracket thaat he installed the memory on has tabs on both sides. You just need to carefully push the tabs away from the RAM until it pops up, then slide it out... It is fairly ez. Just take your time with the tabs (They can be a bit fragile) and you should be done in 3 minutes.
Do not pry up on the RAM, the bracket it almost spring loaded and once the clips are sepaated from the ram, it will pop up to the slanted position.
