Slow down the tempo of my sample to match my drums and track

Hey yall I got this sample i'm looping and added my instruments to it and its synced up. I made the pitch higher to get the chipmunk effect but it goes too fast. How do i slow the sample up to match my other sounds i added into it? Thanks

many ways.
You could go to TRIM mode, then EDIT and TIMESTRETCH the sample. You should first know what is the actual BPM of the loop.
Another way would be still in TRIM mode, slice up the sample and resequence the slices.
You could also use patch phrase there.
Note that it is always easier to go to a higher BPM, while slowing down a sample is often unsatisfactory.

So is there no way to tell the MPC what a loop's native tempo is, and have it adjust the speed of the loop to match the tempo of the song you put it in?

Like in Adobe Audition, you make a loop, tell the program how many beats are in it, and it tells you the BPM. Then when you add that loop into a song, it shrinks or stretches it to match the BPM of the song.

That's what I want my MPC to do. I was under the impression that it would do that when I bought it. Am I out of luck?

no MPC will automatically stretch your loop as you change the BPM... i don't know where you got the idea that it could. you'll have to adjust it manually. maybe you're thinking of patch-phrased samples... that's as close as you'll get.

I guess I just assumed it could b/c I've been working w/ Adobe and Ableton a lot lately. It would be great if it could though.
