Here's my setup with it...
I run a USB Cable to my MIDI Keyboard, from there, I have a MIDI Cable going out of that from the "Out" Port, moving into my MPC, entering the MIDI "In A" Port. From there, you need to change your Track settings. For the "Drum" setting, highlight it and scroll right to "MIDI". Next, turn Program "Off" and change the, I believe "Track" to "1A". Now, to get you to hear the sounds when you playback, you're going to take a MIDI Cable, plug it into your MPC in the "Out A" Port, and transition the other end to the MIDI "In" Port of your Sound Card (For me, the MBox 2). Next, whatever you use to connect your Sound Card to your computer, whether it's a USB or Firewire Cable, take that, and plug it into your computer.
.... With that said - I highly doubt it's a MIDI issue actually causing the freezing. My best guess would be that it's definitely an issue with the operating system on your MPC.
Do this, reset to factory condition...
- Power off the MPC, while holding the "Erase" button.
Or, download the new operating system on
www.akaipro.com... Install that.
Good luck.
