I have the 2000xl took my 1000 back. also I have my motif es6
hooked up to my mpc. I like the setup like how your explaining it,
because I can use my mpc as the sequencer and the motif as a
sound module. However if you want to just hear the sounds from
your motif you have to change the mpc track to a midi channel
that you want to play on the motif and if you just want to hear
the sounds from the mpc you have to turn the midi channel to
drums. In other words lets say I got a piano on track one of
my motif. I would change the mpc to midi channel 1a or 1b
and use the the data wheel to select a different sound bank .
The 1000 requires you to insert a program change, which to
me took away from my groove, in otherwords you have to stop
your beat from playing go to shift and insert the change every
time you wanted to change the sound bank. If you got lets
say 6 instruments from your motif you would be using six
midi channels 1 to 6 or 6 to 12 and if you want sounds from
the mpc you would have to use seperate tracks so that just
those sounds play. The 1000 is cool for beginners but I think
the 2000xl is more advanced .So how you like your motif ?.
If you get to learn it good you can use that as your main sampler
and the mpc as the sequencer and you could really make some
bomb ish..I dont even sample with my 2000xl I just use it as the
brain of my setup and for the drums. The sequencer is perfect
the way you lay it down is the way it comes out. The motif
should've had a sequencer like that and I probaly wouldn't
even need a mpc? except you can bang on those pads .
I'm scared I might break one of my keys on the
keyboard cause I be drumming my ass off on the mpc.
peace and 1luv .

okay damn have you been in my house copping everything I got ??
I got the midi man usb 2x2 also! but I use pro tools le for my mixing and recording
so this is what you do
first you need midi cables how many depends on
the amout of devices you have such as sound modules etc.
motif out into the in of midi man out to the mpc
one out from the mpc into the motif in and you have to configure
your cubase midi look for usb in a-b in the midi device setup
how i know I got cubase sx but don't really like it that much.

Midi out to midi in on the motif and MPC. 2 cables should do it. When you want to program beats on the MPC, set the track to "drums" and set the midi channel to "off". When you want to sequence the motif, set the track to "midi", the program to "off" and set the midi channel to whatever channel the motif is. If you want to play both at the same time, set track to "midi", load up whatever program you want and set the midi channel to whatever channel you are using for your motif.

Hope that helps.
