Ok. First off I love this site! I'm new here but I know that I will soon become a regular.

I'm in the market to buy an MPC. I've been looking strongly at the 2000XL but you guys have successfully thrown a monkeywrench in that plan.

Here's the dilemma: I have a guy who's willing to sell me his mint MPC 2000XL with internal zip drive and 8 outs for $1000 and of course Zzounds has the MPC 1000 available for $879.95 (free shipping).

My set-up is DAW based and I have lots of software. I'm a Soul Singer/Songwriter and I am recording my first full length CD so I've decided to upgrade. I'm getting Pro Tools (either used Digi 001 or the Rack Digi 002) and I already have Recycle, Reason, Live and Tons of VSTi's. So I want Pro Tools (in order to be able to bounce to the bigger studio with ease) and the MPC to add the bump into my sound.

I sample off of CD's and wax. But I like that chipmunk effect that Hip Hop cats use and I think I want to be able to do that (I think that's time stretching right?). I like the USB connection on the 1000 but does it work? Can I chop in Recycle and bounce to the 1000 seamlessly? Which one is better with the Pro Tools rigs I'm looking at?

Overall I'm looking to add a Hip Hop sensibility to my ecclectic style and I want the best piece to complement me. Any advice?

Thanks for reading.

the 1000 is gonna interface with what you are already using much better than an xl

I had some problems with my USB connection at first! But trust me, when things worked out. I really loved it.

Its easy to move, take back up etc, with samples you wont to keep - but dont have enough space for.

And one other things, I dont have to sample "old samples" from my computer I used in Fruity Loops and cool edit, I easy just move/transfer them to my mpc in seconds:)
And, I'm not comfertable with my MPC, YET! So its nice to use effects in Cool Edit Pro etc, as long as I dont know to do it at the MPC1000.

take this in consideration the mpc 1000 doesn't come with a USB cable!

or atleast mine and my friends didn't.

and it meant i had to wait another couple of days to go out and buy one.

which sorta pissed me off.

what, yer saying that is a reason to not get a 1k?

that is just rediculous.

i had 2 usb cables laying around when i got my 1k. they're like $5 at any computer store. big whoop!

no im just saying if your going to order one, and you dont have ausb cable and its part of the reason why you are gettin one. Buy a usb cable.

Sure! My only problem, is that im kind of disepointed that I somehow need a synth as well to make dope beats!
