Hi
I have a sample of some background city noise thats about 1 min long. If I hit the sample and after 20secs decide i don't want it on anymore how do i stop it. Oh and i don't want to have to hold the pad down to play it.

Thanks,
Mac

Trim the sample shorter. Use note on. If you need to stop playback while auditionong the sound, press STOP twice quickly.

I thought you had to hit stop quickly 3 times... or maybe i'm remembering that from the 2000XL.

no you press stop slowly 3 times then really fast 6 times then kinda fast 4 times and then hella fast 5 times, then slam the mpc to the wall, 3 times.

but ummm......
do it like they said, NOTE ON

and mess with the duration in step edit mode, till ya get it how you want it

set an empty pad to mute the pad with the long sample on it and just hit that pad when you want it to stop. you can record this and it will record the muting

use mute groups

it would probably sound better though if you set a Q-Link to LEVEL and faded out the sample slowly instead of just abruptly stopping it

Just go to Trim mode trim off the excess and then press edit and discard what you dont need. OR do it as Note on but you dont want to hold the pad down but still you could do that.
