Sup everyone?
I am a long time MPC user and just got a taste of Roland's new MV8800. One of my buddies got it and I helped him figure it out. That machine is a beast. Anyway, the reason for this post is to see if anyone has used it and if you happen to know of any other drum machines that have the same features?
I love how you can hook up an Flat Panel Monitor and see the sequencer tracks like a DAW screen. It works the same way as an MPC, how when you set a loop length and record your patterns. But for me where it goes beyond and MPC is that you can use a mouse to fine tune what you recorded. You can copy and paste, move, delete, etc... all on the screen visually.
We even hooked up a bass guitar and recorded it right into the MV800. I was impressed with the ease and the sound quality. Then we stumbled across a features similar to Recycle 2.0 and Adobe Audition where you can edit slice your drum loops or samples (non-distructively) and use them in your beats. You can record vocals and sync with other midi devices.
The best part is the saving process. Three steps... File Save> Name the file and hit save and it saves all your settings and saves in one easy process.
Anyway, has anyone used the MV800 yet or anything like it? I still love my MPC.. it actually made me come home and step up my game with chopping up samples and patch phrases and experimenting with new features.
