I have the red and blue mpc1000 and when i put in a CF card, the screen goes blank but lit up. I can't save any of my projects and it's really bothering me. Is there something I can do other than taking it to guitar center to get repaired?

Sounds like your actual cf drive needs to be replaced.
-Try using a brand new cf card.
-Make sure none of the pins are messed up inside the cf drive(the bay).
-Make sure the card is inserted properly.
If none of the above works then I would recommend taking it to be fixed/looked at. Should cost that much since its just a cf drive. You may can repair it yourself.
