There is probably no problem to what i am experiencing with my new MPC, but when i play samples that originally came with the MP, after I change the threshold to 0db, they distort badly. I know that they are maybe recorded for the -12db threshold factory setting, but I might be wrong. Just wanted to make sure nothing's wrong with the machine before I go back to Poland. Just in case it would need a return.

you may just be recording some of your samples too loud -- doesn't sound like a defect

i wasn't recording anything. I'm talking about samples/sounds that come with the MPC. They sound fine when the threshold is at -12db, at 0db they distort. I don't care about those sounds, just wanted to make sure everything is fine with the MP

If it´s not only the samples you play but stock programs there is most likely a problem associated with the effects and/or the filtersn (maybe layering too). When stuff is added to a already normalized sample, either an effect or a rather steep filtering perhaps with some resonance, the MPC might run out of headroom when in 0dB master output.
Try play the samples as is in Trim Mode, if it´s not distorting you and your unit is alright.

I tried what you said, and it's not distorting in trim mode. I guess everything is fine then. Thanks for help!
