Is it possible to construct HDM10 on one's own?

Hello MPC Fans!
I have an opportunity to import mpc 1000 from USA, using my friend. I want to buy it on Ebay, because of the low price of used-one. I hope I will get it for ~600 usd somehow.
I want it absolutely basic, without any upgrades so that the price will be the lowest possible.
I want to upgrade it later, in my homeland - Poland.
Those 256mb Ram sticks cost about 25 usd here + 80gb hdd about 70 usd [ I will buy it later, cuz of the lack of money ]

The only thing that piss me of is the price of this crappy hdm10.
Its sooo overvalued in my opinion and I want to know if its possible to make one by myself.

I wanted to ask those who've already bought it [ i know its very ungrateful, sorry ], whether they could send me/upload some photos of this hdm10, so that I can see how its build exactly.

If it will be possible to build hdm10 using some common pc parts, I promise I will do it and upload a video of "how to do it"

it's a fairly advance piece, including a metal frame and pcb, not knowing your capabilities, i would assume it would a)be too difficult for you to produce or b) too expensive for you to have one made to make it worthwhile.

elhau: my respect for wanting to tackle this. i fully support the idea of home made additions/modifications to the mpc1000, but unfortunately replicating the hdm10 is something i personally wouldn't (yet) tackle

unless you're a skilled metal worker as well as skilled in electronics and circuit board construction and can do all this yourself, then you will have to find someone to do it for you, and this will likely cost far more than just buying the 20 or 30 dollar part.

Even if you could do all the work yourself, the amount of time I imagine it would take would make it far less appealing than just buying it.

Rebuilding the HDM10 is probably very time-conduming. In the end you probably have to invest more money in all the materials and tools to get it done, than buying one. Plus you need all the measurements.

I'd advice a different approach. Maybe build a connector which docks inside the MPC to the disk connecter and has a cable which goes outside through the front panel and is conneced to an external HD. Of course you had to cut out a whole in the front panel for the cable.

Yo I was thinking of the same thing after I read this thread, that would be very nice for being able to quickly connect to the PC with faster USB 2.0 speeds for large file transfers, and with an external power cord you could probably even get it to use a 3.5" hard drive if you really wanted
