how can i tell if a MPC1000 has the new pads?

apologies if this always gets discussed. i did do a search first.

i own a 60ii and i was thinking of coppin a 1000 now that they have this new normal interlink type pad upgrade. i understand that the newest ones actually already have the new pads included, so i obviously don't wanna buy one with the old single pad design.

How do i tell?

Is there any way to tell visually?

Someone may correct me but I was under the impression that the MPC1000 with the black plastic sides has the new pads.

The machines with the cool wooden side panels have the old pad set up.

If you can get your hands on it in the shop try this:

Go to bottom left or bottom right pad and pinch the corner of the pad, if you can pull the edge of the pad out of the case a little, you have the new pads, you can easily poke it back in.

the new pad design is isignaled by a "N" in the serial number

no don't pinch the sides of your MPC... I just did that to mine and the screen went blank.. thanfully it went back on after a couple of minutes.. jeeze bad advice..

no, NOT bad advice...he said the CORNER OF THE PADS, not the "sides of your mpc" (???)

I think you noticed that pad tip first so i should of given you credit... mr cheese might have had a go at you instead!

what the hell did you pinch them in, a vice?

i tried pinching the sides of my mpc for like 20 minutes and i STILL cant get the screen to go black...

well it turns out the one i am thinking of getting has a black back panel....
& it comes in a black box so it's looking likely to have the pad upgrades.
