whats up mpc vets i am currently using the mpc1000 and my problem is when i sample off my records the sound dont blend good when 2i lay down my beats with the sample i have heard somthing about eq ing the sound but i still dont know what im doing thanks ironmike.

i think he is saying that what ever he puts with the sample clashes sound wise. if this is the case you need to tune your drums or whatever is not sounding right then eq and compress! what i do is try to use the drums from the sample if any then layer with my drums tuned to my liking!

nothing to it but practice and research.
tuning, eq, better sample choice, layering, simult, velocity range layer switching, note-ons, adsr...you gotta keep just trying different combinations until you get to the point where you HEAR a problem in your mix and automatically know which of the above parameters to turn to in order to correct your sh!t

in short, don't be afraid to spend hours and hours building a single drum program, or sample program

how about build the drums around the sample, instead of building the sample around the drums. lay down the sampled stuff first. get that all straightened out, and then add some snare, kick, hats, extra percussion shtt. .

These guys are right; it takes some time to find out what sound good or not. What fits and what not. I know that dj's have an advantage with producing, because they know how to treat sound to make it sound good. Talk to a few, I learnt a lot from a friend of mine who is a dj.
This helped me as well when I started: loop 2 bars, lay down ur drums over the original, maby add a lil variotion with a kick or some hats. So u focus is more on what fits together instead of making the right composition.
