What is the issue with CF drive?

I have read that one of the reacuring problems with the 1k aside from the pads is the CF drive. Is this just an issue of the pins bending, or is there more to it than that? Is this problem with all Mp drives or just the 1k? If this has been discussed to death, just point me to the link... Thanks in advance...

the main problem with the cf drive is that its a real pain to put cards in properly - it just doesnt seem to line up properly and you have to be considerate with it. people have bent pins by putting cf cards in in a hurry.

Well...I've had to 1000 for a year now and have NEVER had a problem with CF cards. i have three of them and they slide in easily. As far as being in a hurry, slow the ____down. Anything on any type of
equipment won't slide in properly if you're hurried. (remember ya first time. in a hurry huh. did you get it on the first try )

So it's just the pins? There's no issue with the headphone jack? I'm just asking because I saw on the Mpcstuff site that you can now buy new card slots with the front jacks and there have been a few times when the pads seem to only play at half volume, but seems to fix when messing with the headphones. I am about to buy new pads, and I'm just preparing myself in case I have to replace the card slot now too.

really? I've always had to be SUPER careful and slow, the entrance to the cf slot is just way too wide. - youve got to kind of find the groove that runs down the side of the card and its not until its halfway in that im happy to slide it in fully.

I heard about people complaining about the cf reader and i always thought it was this issue - anyone back me up?

mpc is the one with new pads, black back; panel, box, manual etc.

yeah man , the cf reader onboard is a super-slow USB 1.1, with the cf slot too big ... just gotta be gentle with it..

i got a USB 2.0 card-reader the other day..it works a millin times faster for transfering data to and from the computer to the cf, and no problem with the slot...

i wonder if there is a suitable retro-fit USB 2.0 reader for the 1000?

Yeah you have to be patient with the CF cards an be delicate. This is one of the many design flaw the MPC possess.
