Issue 1 :
I've been using the 2K classic for 12 years but got tired of it and am deciding to switch over to either the 1K or the 2500 . A friend of mine let me use his 1K and I've already run into my 1st problem . I hooked a zip drive up to it and put my old sound disk from the 2K in and it's not reading it . So then I connected the 1K to my Mac and the zip drive as well but my Mac isn't showing the files from the zip either . I know it's not the drive because when I put a Mac formatted disc in it pops up on my desk top . Would this process work better if I used a PC ?

Anyone else dealt w/ this before ?

Issue 2 :
I thought the Bit Grunger effect was gonna have a little more to it than choosing 1-8 . Any one worked w/ the 2500 and knows if it has more in depth control over bit reduction ? i.e. You can put in your own preference of bit depth and kHz ? And if I got the JJ OS does it make the Bit Grunger more versatile on the 1K ?

bit grunger is just distortion, just replace the words in your head

jj os has bit convert, which gives you option to change bit depth/sampling rate. that's probably what you're looking for

anything the 2500 does, the 1000 does (both run the same os) excluding extra outs/qlink/cd

regardin the zip, i got no clue.

You can if you got the right cable (using the word "can't" is really a defeating habit) . It's obvious though that you have no clue what I'm talking about . . . .

Good lookin' out on the advice Nym . I guess a 1K it just might have to be .

What cable? What is the zip drive, scsi, usb? What is the cable actually?

You didn't provide any details on the cable and the drive itself big dog.

unless you have some kind of crazy cable that hooks into the CF slot on the 1K then there's no such 'right cable'

the USB in the back isn't for hosting other USB devices, it's merely a means of transferring files from the MPC to a computer

that's problem number one

--

what I expect is the solution to your other problem is that the 2000 most likely formats zip disks with a file system that is proprietary to the 2K and not compatible with a Mac (or even a PC)

what you need is a software solution that will interpret the file system on your 2K formatted zip disks and let you retrieve the files. There are several programs out there that do this.

Look into 'Chicken Systems Translator' as well as 'CDXTRACT' - there's most likely a Mac version of one of them that can help you out

I've tried loading up my 2k files straight off the zip to the computer then into a 1k, didn't work. Also tried off zip through mpc editor/mpcpgm maker(I have both), didn't work. Both times it would load the pgm just fine, but always gave an error loading the seq up. So I'd say your ****.
