Im a newbie

I just bought an MPC1000 and an Mbox2. I have connected everything properly because I can here sound coming from the sample library. This is the thing. I cannot get any sound to come out of any pads. When I try to load a program I get a default program1. Instead of a Hip hop program that came pre-installed with the MPC. How can I get this program loaded and loaded into the pads? I looked at the manual and I followed the instructions but cannot change the program. Thanks and sorry for the noob question.

artoledo: If you load a program, it won't necessarily be assigned as the 'active' program in memory. In program mode, highlight the program name and jog wheel until you see the name of the program you just loaded.

Sorry to sound stupid. But when i load the wav files into my cf card using usb, do i just drop them in there one by one or do i create a folder with a Program name? I am asking because when i use the jog wheel to look for the program, I only get program1 and OFF. Those are the only 2 program options the MPC gives me.

I'm not sure what you're doing. But dropping them with usb on your CF Card is not loading a program. You've got to load the program and samples into the RAM memory of your MPC. Go to 'Load' on the MPC and browse towards your CF Card. Load the program and samples from your card into RAM.

Select an empty program and assign samples to pads in program mode.

When your done, save the program to your CF card (rename the program), because you lose everything in RAM when turned off.

This seems troublesome, but having all the programs, sequences and samples in RAM is a huge advantage when playing a live set. Once in RAM, switching between sequences is very fast and stable.
