Routing The Click to headphones. . .

Hi.

Is is possible to route the click to the headphones, rather than the main outs 1+2. When performing this will mean i can hear the click, but not the audience. . .

Also. . . while im here. . . i cant find out how to turn the note triggering to note off so that when press the pad the sound is heard until i release it. My options only seem to be poly and mono? On my 2k it allows me to do this.

From what I understand it's not possible out of the box

A good workaround would be to set up your own click track though on a track, and assign that track to one of the 4 assignable outputs -- plug your headphones in there

JJ OS has a 'simult sequence' feature that would be good for this. You could make a click sequence as short as 1 bar, but if you used it as the second sequence on any other sequence it would continue to play no matter how long the other sequence is

you can't route the click to just the headphones - it's a hardware limitation. pretty sure
that the headphones/stereo outs are one and the same basically.

with JJ you can route the click to one of the assignable outputs and plug your headphones
in there. only mono click though -- all one side, which can get annoying.

Hey. . . Thats perfect. I wouldnt mind which output it was coming from, just thought it could be a useful performing tool. Im not sure if i want to get the JJos though. I want peace of mind that it will be stable on stage.

JJOS is MORE STABLE than the Akai OS. Trust it. I've used it for 6 months now, it is a fully complete and dependable system.

Hey. . . thats cool. I heard that if i start making stuff on the Akai OS, its not compatible with the JJos??? or something like that?

If im going to try the JJos, then should i install it before i get going into the Akai OS?

Anyone else second its stability?

An other workaround would be to route everything to the alternative outs and listen to the click through the headphone out. And not use the stereo outputs.

JJ OS, even if you only get the free one, is worlds better and more stable than the Akai OS

The Akai OS WILL (not might, will) **** up your files.

Install JJ OS, backup all your files to your computer, re-format the CF card (and hard drive if you have one) from within JJ OS, and then put your files back.

OS2 is the only one where compatibility issues may come up. OS1 and Akai OS are for the most part completely compatible

Are there any compatibility issues.

For example will i still be able to use the programs ive created for the 1000 that are currently on the flash card?

Also. I use MPC Pad 187 Application on a mac. Will this be ok still?

I dont believe that there arent any disadvantages. . . there always is with technology?

If anyone can give me some advice id appreciate it before i make the move. . .

the features you gain from the jjos are lightyears ahead of the akai os. all the bugs in the os1 have been completely worked out so it is more stable than akai. i have not experienced a single issue with the jjos. akai.... not so much. like was said above when you switch. just transfer all your files onto your mac and then reformat the flashcard and or hard drive within the mpc and transfer everything back. the main difference between os1 and os2 is that os2 has adsr. which is basically the ability to make instrument programs directly in the mpc. i use outboard sound modules for this so never upgraded. but alot of cats dont have the coin to dump into outboard gear so this is a great feature for them.
