Downloading samples from the CF card

I need some help. I copied some wave samples from my pc into the CF card. Created different folders. So when I go load the a folder with the wave samples in the mpc why is it, that I can only load seq or songs and not load the wave samples on each pad. It does not give me any options. But when i choose to load seq and song, they are present in the trim mode but not assigned to pads. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help.

I think I had this problem once... I'm not 100% sure where the limitations are, but I'm pretty sure that when you load from a directory, it takes only that directory, and not any subdirectories below that.

Or, have you got several layers of directories on the card, e.g. F:\PIANOS\STEINWAY, F:\PIANOS\BOSENDORFER, F:\PIANOS\YAMAHA, and so on? I suspect that the MPC will only load files from one directory layer below root e.g F:\PIANOS\* not F:\PIANOS\YAMAHA\*
I oughta do some experiments tonight, or can anyone else confirm this?

Well I created different folders. So under the Root directory I would have 3 different folders. example: Drumkits with drum wave files, folder 2 would be vocal samples. So if I choose drumkits to load it will only give me the option to load the seq and songs and not the individual samples so I can assign them to each pad. I hope this helps , anyone who can help me.

apologies if you know this, but I'm not sure where you're going wrong... the way it looks to me is to make sure you see "View: All Files" or "View: Samples" in the View field (select and dial it in), then do the "Load a folder" procedure as on manual pg 82.
The "File:" item should show the folder with the files you want to load: if it shows "Root", hit right-cursor then use the wheel to select the sub-folder. Also verify your samples are in the right format (WAV, PCM uncompressed, 44100 16 bit, mono or stereo) or they will be ignored...!

Well I know the samples are ok to use. Cause they were all there in the trim mode. But also, I downloaded the kits from the akai web site and the same thing occurs. I can't load individual samples from the 909 kit or the 808 kit. But when I load the seq and songs they are all assigned to a pad. Read the manual over and over but still no look. However, if I load the internal sounds I have no problems being to load single samples to the pads. It's from the Cf card it won't give me that option. I'll try again but I'm sure I didn't miss a step. Or do I have to load the samples and then create a program to assign the samples to each pad for use? Thanks.

I see the same thing: if you load a whole directory of files, it just "speed" loads them unto RAM, but no option for creting a program...so my guess is the idea is to either

A: load individual files, and build the program as you go along,
B: load all files, then build a program.
but is mostly used for
C: load existing programs & samples very quickly.

Oh, I see what you mean - you're right, it's not going to auto-assign samples to a program for you! How would it know which sample to put where? I've heard of other samplers assigning samples to ranges, using the pitch info in the WAV file, but we don't have that here...

build a program as you go along and then save the samples you added into that program. When it says program already exists just replace it with the new one.
