Keyboard Required?

Wattap. I am waiting on some feedback in terms of sampling etc. But once I figure that out ( I believe the answer is more ram, due to some research I've done) I will be able to make the following tracks per sequence:

-Drum Patterns
-Samples

What am I missing?

-Bass/Piano...etc.

The question is: Do I need to buy a keyboard and a bank of piano sounds?

OR, can I just (since I have several single shot bass sounds etc) sample a single shot bass, and turn my 64 (Banks A-D) Pad MPC 1000 into a keyboard itself?
OR, since I have programs like Garage Band, can I Record In from my comp and record the bass piano from my Garage Band, live time, into my MPC 1000?

Any help is greatly appreciated. I searched the forum for this and couldn't find it.

no. it's a sampler. why don't you find recordings with the sounds you want and sample them?

IMO you'd be better off sampling individual notes -- from garage band or another source -- and using the MPC
sequencer to arrange those notes in your track.

Okay, so theres no way that I can assign a single shot or instrument itself to all 64 pads (or 16) automatically?

I'd have to figure out which 3 or 4 etc bass sounds i'd want and then sample those individually, and assign those to 3 or 4 etc pads?

I dont' even have turntables/vinyls...i should probably invest in that, yea?--ive always wanted to. just havent yet.

if you dont want to fork out for turntables just yet get some sample cd's in the mean time, ultimately the most original samples come from vinyl as thousands of people use the same sample cd's. you'll find 'try before you buy' versions of sample cd's on the net if you look hard enough (not that i condone such activity).

to play the tune/note of a sample chek 16 levels and set to tune

another thing that you can do is wherever you get the sound from, whether it be record or sample CD..always EQ and filter the hell out of it, so that you get a new sound all together.

I have one kick drum sample that I've used in about 20 different tracks, from hip hop to house. You just have to act like it's the last sample you'll ever have and the creativity will come out.
