mpc pad upgrade

Hey i just ordered the pad upgrade for my 1000...and i recieved an email stating that they werent in stock..and theres a waiting list...how long did any of you guys wait if u ordered these pad uprade?

i ordered mine early to mid may, they are shipping on the 16th of june. so just a little over a month.

I ordered the Pad Upgrade Kit in the end of april.
The 30 may they E-mailed me something like: "we are the firs of the awaiting list of the akai pad upgrade delivery
and we should be able to sent it in july"...
Listen the 16 june sounds soooo good, because the 2nd pad of my blue&red MP1k are going to die

It seems that here in melbourne, you can get the pad fix for $129 from store dj, (and they are suppled from elfa). I did the installation last night, and truely I don't think I realised just how bad the old pads were, I mean I almost needed a hammer to get sound out of the pads. The installation is easy, just take your time, the tricky bit I found was installing the PCB to the base metal platform, the screws require real effort to get it into the holes, I re-used the ones from the old pad board. Anyway you are going to love these new pads. If using JJ OS you need to adjust PAD pressure to get best performance. Any one got any good ideas w to use the old pad platfrom for something, like attaching thesensors to a guitar or the like?

I'm planning on building an analog drum synth, which i found schematics for in an electronics book. So i'll be using my old pads as triggers when I test the build. After the project is complete, I'll have the drum synth controlled by CV inputs, build a MIDI-to-CV converter, and have my MPC control everything.

wavemartian, what color were your pads?
I have had a couple of dealers tell me that the delay was from the pads being changed to black (or dark gray) so that you could easily know which pads where the new style.

The pad colour is a slightly darker shade of grey, but not too different from the old pads. They have a slightly softer feel, its real easy to know if you have the old/new pads as if you jiggle a single pad around a little they all move. Another thing I did to align the holes properly of the sensor mask (which has a very sticky adhesive), was to guide a couple of match sticks through the holes of the metal plate, perfect match.
