So i've been messing around on my mates 2000xl for a year or so, and decided to buy a 1k but the timestretching is a nightmare on this thing.

I mean on the 2kxl if i have say 2 loops i wanna put on top of each other i just timestretch em, and et voila.
But on the 1k i just can't seem to suss it, yeah i've rtfm plenty of times but i still don't get it

Instead of me getting even more stressed with it can someone please tell me in a 'step by step' how they go about looping and timestretching on this thing ? I've been breaking my head on it, and the easiest way i found was to patch phrase it, but it should be as easy as on the 2kxl surely !??

Any help very much appreciated.

It sounds like the mpc isnt giving you an accurate tempo readout to start with (i never use the detect tempo feature). If detect tempo doesnt work for you try this:
1.make sure both samples are trimmed right to the beat.
2.place first sample on the first beat of a seq
3.tap tempo to get the rough tempo
(if you have a rough idea of bpms anyway then this step is optional)

4.tweak the sequence tempo to make it loop perfectly
5.make a note of the tempo
6.repeat with the second sample.
7.using this info timestretch one sample to fit with the other.
