MY screen fades away.

I have 1000bk 128 akai ram with akai os 2, and th escreen fades to a bright un-readable yellow after 30 seconds to two minutes after turning unit on, even if I dont touch a single button.

it is not the contrast, I have fiddles with that,

note: the system also will not do a factory restart, I have followed the manual on doing this but It doesnt give me any prompts on to reset, and shows no sign that it has been reset,

I baught this unit used, and the screw that holds the CF drive in is stripped and falls out, so it look as though the previous owner had done some messin around in there>? can the CF drive effect the monitor screen ? or make some crazy sounds? like fastly triggered samples?

I have checked the screen conectors they are all tight and I have removed the ram a few times to make sure it was seated well.

I noticed after putting the library sound cf in a few times I was able to get the screen to stay stable and was able to use the unit for a few hours yesterday, but then after removeing the card and attempting another factory reset it started doing the screen fade again?

very frustrated, broke and determined to get this unit running.

any help would be greatly apreciated.

It sounds like homeboy sold you a dud. I'd be pissed.... depending how much you paid for it. First, did you get this of ebay or something? Or was this a friend of a friend? I'd talk to the dude [nicely] about giving up some money for the repairs. If it sold as is you may be out of luck...


To get the machine repaired may be expensive BUT if your willing to count you loss and look at the positives, you could have a great machine that you brought back to life.....


I have a green screen that I could sell you for cheap [that works] and that could help you on your way....

PM me if you want to talk about price. They are normally $180. for the old green screen and about $155. for the new blue screen.... I would sell it to you WAY cheaper than that.

yes i did get it from ebay... 700$ said it was in excellent condition, but the unit i got had a ding in the caseing that wasnt the same as the one in the pic, so who knows?

I have been sifting through this forum and found one fellow who was haveing simular issue and he mentioned it was related to the CF slot? sounds odd to have that part of the machine effect something so seemingly unrelated?

Im hopeing someone may see my post and know if fixing the CF drive or replaceing it would be the problem solver. and what the cost of a new CF drive might be?

I will contact you about the replacement screen (TY) as soon as I rule out the CF slot.
