read the manual twice and then when you have questions you will have some idea if they are covered and where to find them.
I personally only use the wav. file but i think i remember reading that it recognizes SND too. I could be wrong on that. Do you have a turntable to sample from? If so, buy mad records and get to know your little blue friend- hope that helps - peace

you're never really LIMITED because you can sample anything you hear from vinyl, cd's, vhs tapes, dvd's, tv, banging on tables, etc.

as DEITY said: read the manual and you will have a general idea. Then if you have any specific questions, ask them here. When you say "am interested in learning EVERYTHING about it"... people won't be able to answer you, because there is just too much to write about the MPC1000.
