Hook up MPC to Computer..(not usb)

Hi, before I begin I did try finding this by searching the forums...
It didnt help much..if u find a link that would help me that i might of missed, drop it..
anyways im trying to hook up my computer(software) to my MPC..
I currently have adobe audition,Cool edit pro, and ACID..
i want to track out my songs through one.. how would I go about this..? Thanks..

Main Outs -> line in on your computer. You can get a 1/4" to 1/8" cable at many stores.

Tell audition, sound forge, audacity to record from line in.

^ this may not always yield the best results... but for the money, you can't go wrong.

the biggest benefit to getting a usb/firewire device would of course be tracking out synced to the DAW time code. otherwise, with the line in method mentioned above, you will probably be spending some time re-mixing/syncing your tracks.

DAW?? hmm is it possible..to sync it with software such as audition or acid and have all my tracks in a sequence record sepreately at the same time on the softwares tracks?

all at once, recording synced up to your daw you will need either a mixer in between your computer and mpc, or an audio interface (usb/firerwire). otherwise, with the line in, you can record single tracks one at a time and mix them together track by track in your DAW OR the whole thing as ONE track, mixed via MPC.

you need something to take all the outs of the mpc to the computer, like the Lexicon Omega, Motu Ultralite, Mbox, Edirol, Presonus Firebox etc...

of course, the lexicon is a lower end model and only has 4 inputs... but at least it syncs the time code and you could do several takes with select tracks going to the computer at a time. higher end recording interfaces have more i/os

My Dude, For best results you should probably get some kind of audio interface. Me myself I have a Mbox2, and what I do thats works 4 me and is pretty fast and efficent after some practice is play the traks one at a time thru the Mbox into Protools. Also I dont do midi tracks to me its a pain in the ass, I do audio traks, but here's another tip, And I should B charging you 4 this "THE GAME IS TO BE SOLD NOT TOLD" well any way after all your traks r traked in you will have to zoom in chop?or cut etc. you kno wut I mean, but the begining ther will be no sound. You will have to do this to all your traks. It generaaly takes me about 20 minutes. Hope now you can take ur issh to the limit good luck. Yep!

First, I've got a related question hence I saw no need to post a new topic. I haven't had my MPC that long and I can assure you that I'm doing my bit by ReadingTFM.
I'm looking to get the correct audio cables for the purpose...audio into my daw.
In my set up, I've got a firewire interface and has only balanced/TRSjack inputs. I notice the 1K's 6 ouputs are unbalanced. Does it matter if I go out and buy balanced/1/4 inch TRS and use these with the MP. (i.e unbalanced MPC connected with TRS cable to balanced inputs on interface)
I fairly know basic differences but wanna know if it will make any sonic difference since i suspect the overall set up is unbalanced. There's an article on this topic by Tweakheadz however I can't figure out how to think this out on the MPC.
Are you lot happy to use the TRS or the TS cables?

guys can anybody help me on this one question that i have? i got my computer hooked up to my MPC, rca to headphone line on my computer, but i can't get no sound from when i'm trying to sample from computer, i'm doing this right, Right??? just got this new toy and i'm trying to get some sounds in there to start playing, how do i transfer Wav files from computer to MPC????

You want a headphone to RCA cable between you computers headphone line OUT, RCA's into the record in sockets on the MPC (via RCA to jack adapters), then you gotta record with the MPC... pretty easy. Make sure on the record screen that it says input:ANALOG, press record then push play on our media player or whatever you use on your computer. If you got no sound check the rec gain and main volume dials, make sure your main outs are running into your monitors or stereo... make sure your stereos turned on haha ummmm can't think of how to make it any easier. Are you getting any movement on the L and R bars on the record screen?

I use USB connection. You need to get a USB cable. Check the back of your MPC1K and you'll see it there.

Did you say you had the RCA goin into the MPC ?....Cause thats not RCA....Its spidf ...Don't know if thats you prob......I get all my samples into the MPC via USB.....The less you step on the sample the better the sound quality....And by step on I meen record from the comp to the usb threw the 1/4 in inputs......

Hey I have an Fast Track Pro 8x8 as well and have a decent setup but we are thinking of getting a 1000 to compliment us on our beat making. How do you have it set up? Do you connect the MPC into the 6 line inputs on the Fast Track? Do you sample on the PC and then drag and drop the wav file into the MPC via USB?
