Going from older MPC's to the MPC 1000 i can say my neck is killing me from bending and leaning over the MPC 1000 on a flat surface. Its sorta ironic in a way because i work in a environment where ergonomics and OH & S is paramount and then i go home and slave over a MPC for hours in the worst possible positions to cause neck and back strain.

So how do you guys have your MPC's set up ?, im seriously thinking about creating a stand for my MPC.

Just a wedge stand thats angeled at 40 degrees, i was messing around and found that 40 degrees to worked best for me and my eyes over longer periods

yeah it's a common problem. there's been many topics about it in the past. but anyway, i'll list some of the things that have been used.

auralex mopads - i had this idea 3 years ago. some people laughed at me for it. but lately i've seen newer members discover how useful they are.

looseleaf binder

paint roller

wood blocks

laptop stand - some of them were a bit wobbly.

on-stage stands mix-400 - i've been using this for the past two years. the angle and the height can be adjusted to suit your needs. the width of the base is a bit wide but still holds the 1k in place. just cut a piece of wood for the base so the 1k don't accidently fall off the rails.

man distortedtekno, you are the man x2 tonight.

i'll prob cop one of those On-Stage Stands. think it'll fit a 2500?

looking straight down/angled from a desk chair hurts.

how do you manager your cables? pics? thanks in advance...

I've seen lots of guys talking bout different stands you can buy for em on here. But this year I've just been using a noraml (but sturdy) music stand. You know the type you put sheet music on. Its at a good height for me while standing and can be adjusted, good angle too. Just had to prop it up a little so I could still acess the headphone jack and the memory card slot.
I was a little worried it would'nt be stable enough, but i've bashed the shit out of it and its going well. I'm confidant enough that I'd even use it on stage.

take apart your mpc1000, take out the screen, desolder the ribbon cable from the MPC and the screen. solder on female db22 connectors. buy a long db22 cable to put in between. attach the screen to anything in your studio - in my mind, i picture using the "vertebrate" of a lamp like this: Image

and enjoy a comfortable neck.
also, i recommend that you put your studio desk on 4 vertical-standing cinder blocks to raise it up so you can STAND instead of sit while you compose

I just use my ex-roomie's drafting table to put the mpc on along with the rest of the table top gear. Tilt and hight fully adjustable for the entire setup (though it helps to have some type of non-slip padding on the table surface if the tilt gets extreme).

I got the same thing. But I used screws to keep my SP808 and MPC1K from falling down. But very comfy on the neck.
